Welcome to North Carolina and the Charlotte Metro Region

  I love calling North Carolina home . . .

This beautiful photo was taken by a novice photographer of the Uptown Charlotte skyline in March of 2012 just after a thunderstorm.  I think he will be winning lots of awards for it.

As I mentioned, welcome to North Carolina and the Charlotte region.  North Carolina has a generally mild climate, with abundant and well distributed rainfall. The state's congenial climate, its many miles of beaches, and beautiful mountains attract large numbers of visitors each year. Chief among the tourist attractions are the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Great Smoky Mts. National Park.

Charlotte is about a two hour drive to the NC mountains, and 4-5 hours to the beaches of South Carolina.  Perfect for a long weekend getaway.  It will take about 7-8 hours if you would prefer he Cape Hatteras area and Outer Banks but it is definitely worth a trip there.

Nicknamed the "Queen City" in honor of the British Queen  "Charlotte Sophia"  the Charlotte metro area has an estimated population of 1,675,000.  It is one of the fastest growing areas in the South.  The region offers a very attractive, affordable lifestyle.  Residents of Charlotte, referred to as "Charlotteans" enjoy good wages that are well above the national average. Currently the average household earns $58,862 per year. Housing costs are affordable with the average two bedroom two bath apartment renting for $826 a month and the average cost of a house is $185,192.  A strong economic environment coupled with an affordable cost of living makes Charlotte an exciting relocation option!

The real estate market offers a diverse style of homes and communities.     Historic and trendy inner city neighborhoods such as Dilworth, Myers Park, Plaza/Midwood, or "hip hood", No Da (North Davidson Arts District).

Some luxury areas include: Ballantyne, Myers Park, Eastover, Morrocroft, orThe Pointe, Sailview, and The Peninsula in Lake Norman.

Surburban living abounds in the towns of Matthews, Pineville, Mint Hill, Indian Trail and Waxhaw, located in southern region, or Huntersville, Concord, Harrisburg and Kannapolis in the north/north-east regions.

For those who enjoy lake living, check out Lake Norman, which includes:  Cornelius, Mooresville, Davidson, Denver, and Sherrills Ford, or Lake Wylie including Tega Cay, Fort Mill and Rock Hill, or the Mountain Island Lake area.

This once sleepy little town has awakened and is roaring into the 21st Century while still maintaining it's southern charm.  Charlotte and the surrounding area offers world class entertainment, outstanding fine arts, incredible shopping, countless water activities, plentiful family fun and tranquility for peace of mind.  Visit the Area Links page for more in depth information.
